Black Infant Health’s partner recognition of the month is March of Dimes (MOD). March of Dimes’ mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. MOD carries out their mission through research, community services, education and advocacy. The San Diego Market under the direction of Jessica Wade, Manager, Maternal & Infant Health Initiatives, is partnering with organizations such as BIH, to provide resources and education on the disparities within maternal health and preterm birth, raise awareness around preeclampsia and hypertension, and uplift the work being done to support all moms and babies within our community.
Mrs. Wade has been working with and advocating for under-served women, children and families for over 10 years. Besides her work with MOD, she is a wife, mother, Certified Lactation Education Specialist, and Certified Doula. Her passion for mothers and families experiencing preterm births, developed from her own personal traumatic birthing experience.
