Damon Carson, NHA’s General Manager of Education, Instruction, and Operations, was recently elected as the Board Chair of the National Head Start Association (NHSA). NHSA is a nonprofit organization that represents over 1,600 Head Start grantees, and works to influence policy in the area of early childhood education. Damon previously served as Vice Chair of the organization.
Damon is no stranger to public policy; he currently serves at the Vice President of the Region IX Head Start Association, and as a founding member and Treasurer of the National Head Start Alumni Network.
Damon has been with the Neighborhood House Association since 2000. He joined the organization as a Compliance Analyst, and has spent the last 15 years increasing his areas of responsibility within the organization. He leads a team of 600 employees and manages a budget in excess of 80 million dollars annually. He is known for being an innovative and thoughtful leader with a passion for advocating for the country’s less fortunate children and families. Under his leadership, NHA’s Head Start program secured a half billion dollars in federal funding for early childhood education.
NHA is very proud of Damon’s hard work, and his commitment to the children and families NHA and NHSA serve each year. Congratulations, Damon!
