Our Extreme Makeover beneficiary is The Neighborhood House Association’s, Senior Service Center. The NHA is San Diego’s largest multi-purpose human services agency. The organization helps thousands of individuals and families improve their quality of life by providing food and vital social services such as employment services, healthcare and child, family and senior services.
NHA’s Senior Service Center provides the following services for elderly persons 60 years and older:
- Educational Classes that include, arts and crafts, music, fitness and nutrition, as well as, field trips throughout San Diego area.
- Project Care, a community action to reach the elderly, including Postal Alert, Are you Ok?, Gatekeeper, Vial of life, Home Repair Program and Safe Return.
- HICAP – Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program
- Senior Nutrition Program that serves more than 30,000 hot nutritious meals a year both to congregate meal sites and homebound seniors.
