NHA collaborated with the office of Senator Juan Vargas to promote a new health campaign to Head Start Students called Healthy, Fit and Happy in the New Year. As part of the program, students are learning how to keep their plate healthy and get the exercise they need. The program aims to reduce childhood obesity, increase exercise and educate children on healthy eating habits.
To kick off the program, the office of Senator Juan Vargas joined NHA at Webster Head Start for educational activities planned by NHA’s Nutrition Services Program. Led by Nutrition Services, the children were asked to identify various healthy foods as well as participate in a game that encouraged eating nutritional foods such as beans. NHA and the office of the Senator visited with parents throughout the month of March to spread the word about the program.
