The Neighborhood House Association successfully kicked off their First Annual Golf Gathering Friday, September 9th at Sycuan Resort in El Cajon. Title Sponsor Union Bank joined forces with San Diego’s largest human service agency to launch the fund-raising event. With over 100 participants and sponsors from all over the county, the agency was able to raise funds that will benefit the 22,000+ families that NHA serves each year.
Major supporters of NHA’s pilot fund-raising event were Barney & Barney, LLC, Bridges Destination Management Company, KIFM Smooth FM 98.1, Kaplan Early Learning Company and Torrey Pines Bank.
“As San Diego’s largest multi-purpose human services agency and as a non-profit organization, we very much rely on community members to continue to make an impact in the quality of life for the underserved,” said NHA’s President & CEO, Rudolph A. Johnson. “Without the help of our sponsors and partners, we would not be able to sustain the day to day operations of 11 different programs throughout the county at more than 100 locations. We’re very grateful and appreciative of each and every one of the sponsoring organizations of the Golf Gathering.”
A day of food, fun and most of all golf, The First Annual Golf Gathering aimed to introduce an annual event that was a positive and welcoming experience for everyone involved while furthering the mission of the agency. Committee Chair, Bill Hardt of Bridges Destination and Management Company, believes it achieved just that.
“NHA’s strives to develop children, families and future leaders of our communities by providing vital social services. The Golf Gathering not only allows NHA to continue to provide these services to the public but it also give partners and sponsors the opportunity to enjoy a day out on the golf course for a good cause.”
Onsite was KIFM Smooth FM’s Mike Vasquez and the very talented Avis Brown Riley, a local golf professional that offered her expertise to golfers throughout the course. The Golf Gathering also featured an awards banquet and an opportunity drawing and silent auction that gave participants the chance to win a Chargers Box Seat Package, Callaway golf equipment, Nike golf equipment, a private round of golf with legend Lee Elder and much more.
“As a first annual event, I would say this was a huge success and we look forward to what next year has to offer,” said Johnson.
