Black Infant Health (BIH) kicked off the summer with a bang at its 11th Annual Old School Fun in the Sun event. Our event was hosted in the heart of Southeast San Diego at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park in partnership with the San Diego Association of Black Social Workers (SDABSW). It was a family-friendly day filled with games, food, local resource vendors, and much more. Some of the highlights included getting out on the dance floor and getting down with fitness instructor Deborah Portee, taking a moment to do some gentle stretching and strength building with Movement Matters Collective, and being adorned with beautiful face art by artists from Paint Me SD. Everyone in attendance had the opportunity to connect with over 25 organizations and local service providers including San Diego Public Library, Jackie Robinson YMCA, and NHA Head Start! In addition to various giveaways and prizes, families left with full bellies, a day of fun in the sun, and an insulated BIH lunch bag filled with old school toys. Our event was the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors, kick off the month, and dive into summertime fun! We can’t wait to do it all again next year for our 12th annual Old School Fun In The Sun!
